Warp 52 – Planning for the warp end

I have about 1m of weavable warp remaining on the loom, I’ve decided to use it as a sample for my next fan reed project.

I’ve been thinking about using the purple undulating lines that are separating each coloured stripe as a vine with supplementary weft flowers coming off the sides into the coloured bands (similar to the kani-weave scarf woven in Project 7).

The remainder of this warp will be used to experiment with the placement of the flowers and the shape of the flowers.

The large flower is 19 ends wide and 18 ends tall. The small flower is 9 ends wide and 9 picks tall. On paper, I prefer the larger flower shape.

For these experiments, I will use various colours of rayon yarn for the flowers; the yarn will be folded at least double to ensure that the flowers show up well and dominate the warp.
I can probably have a maximum float length of four and if I vary the position of the warp threads that tie the floats down, they should be less visible (ie like a satin weave).
There will be ground weft picks between supplementary wefts.
