I started by hemstitching in natural and then wove a single pattern repetition in natural, 0.5 repetition in yellow, 0.5 repetition in orange and 0.5 repetition in green before hemstitching in green.
Then I left a gap, wove 8 picks in 5/2 cotton, inserted a stick, wove another 8 picks and glued the woven sections with a flour/water paste. Once this had dried, I cut the sample fabric from the loom.
I hand washed it in warm water with Beyond fibre wash, spun it in the washing machine on medium speed, pressed it on silk setting and allowed the fabric to dry. After working the dry fabric in my hands, it was gorgeous – it feels really soft and delicate. The natural yarn shrinks more than the coloured yarns.
