Warps 19 & 20 – Cushions completed

I completed Nathalie’s four cushion covers.

This involved
1) Pressing the hems under
2) Machine sewing across the folded hem border
3) Pinned the woven fabric to the cushion covers
4) Hand stitched the fabric to the cushion covers
5) Machine stitched labels to the back of the cushion covers

I’m really pleased with how they turned out.

I calculated the income/expenses involved with these cushions

Total costs = $160
Cushions $15 x 4 = $60
Yarn $25 x 4 spools = $100 (2 cream, 1 jaune fonce, 1 peacock)

Total income = $400
$100 x 4 cushions

Net income = $240

Time involved = 5.5 days
0.5 days planning
0.5 days winding warps
1 day threading heddles and sleying reed
1 day weaving warp 19
1 day weaving warp 20
1/2 day finishing the fabric
1 day completing the four cushions

This means that I get about $44/day of work.

I have come up with two possibilities for the pieces I wove from the warp ends
1) Use them as table mats – Perhaps Nathalie would buy them as they match her cushions?
2) Make them into bags – requires lining, woven straps & sewing
