Warp 39 – 2nd piece (scarf – “Running water”) completed

I began by tying the 2-stick header to the front apron rod and hem stitching in 2 picks of plain weave with indigo eri silk.

I decided that I needed to play with coloured pencils to determine the weft stripe sequence for this piece. I came up with the pattern below. The TAW green area was dark green at one end and light green at the other. Between the mulberry silk ends, there are 11 bands of TAW natural coloured eri silk separated by ends of dark green/light green/dark green mulberry silk woven in an extended point (as in pencil sketch).

Weaving was finished by hemstitching on 2 picks of plain weave with indigo eri silk. A 2-stick header was woven, the fabric cut from the loom and wet finished.

This scarf is beautiful! Husband thinks it is the most beautiful piece I have woven – he has called it “Running water”.
