Kani shawl weaving

The weaving of a Kani shawl is amazing to watch. The weft is constructed from many individual threads of different colours. It is almost a cross between tapestry and weaving! The threads used are handwoven pashmina fibres – they are SO fine, it takes months to complete a single shawl.
