I decided to weave twill at 16epi and see what the finished fabric is like.
So I threw 2 rows of plain weave and hemstitched.
Then I wove 2/2 twill (lifting pattern 12, 23, 34, 14) with 5cm of black followed by 5cm of white
The black was at 18.6ppi (1.5″, 28 picks); the white at 17ppi (1″, 17 picks) – both supposed to be 16ppi.
I then threw 2 picks of plainweave from the right and hemstitched the end of the fabric.
I left a 2cm gap and threw 2 picks of plain weave and hemstitched.
Then I wove 1/3 twill (lifting pattern 1, 2, 3, 4) with 5cm of black followed by 5cm of white
The black was at 16ppi (1.75″, 28 picks); the white at 12ppi (2″, 24 picks) – both supposed to be 16ppi.
I then threw 2 picks of plainweave from the right and hemstitched the end of the fabric.
