After leaving a 4cm gap after the 2nd piece (white weft), I wove 2 alternating picks of basketweave and hemstitched using 5/2 unmercerised black cotton. This will also be the weft for this entire piece. I wove a TAW 4-thread point twill pattern (1 2 3 4 3 2 repeat). This is exactly the same pattern as that for the white weft. It will be interesting to compare the two pieces.

I measured the length of the weaving using T-pins – before each winding on of the warp, I measured forward from the pin, moved the pin and wrote down the length of weaving. After weaving 146cm, I wove 2 picks of alternating basketweave and hemstitched.
