Warp 39 – 3rd piece (scarf) completed

A friend has commissioned this scarf. I began by tying the 2-stick header to the front apron rod and hem stitching in 2 picks of plain weave with indigo eri silk.

I decided to add some hand reeled mulberry silk to this piece, so wound a skein of silk that had been dyed using fresh indigo leaves – gives a blue/green colour.

This scarf was woven as follows:
Eri silk – indigo dyed – 1-8
Mulberry silk – copper – 1-8
Mulberry silk – fresh indigo – 1-8-1
Mulberry silk – copper – 8-1
Mulberry silk – fresh indigo – TAW
Mulberry silk – copper – 1-8
Mulberry silk – fresh indigo – 1-8-1
Mulberry silk – copper – 8-1
Eri silk – natural – TAW – 13 bands separated by coloured eri silk bands (orange/green/orange or green/orange/green, woven 1-8/1-8-1/8-1). The 12th and 13th bands of natural eri silk were woven without the separating coloured band.
Weaving of this piece was finished with orange/green/orange (1-8/1-8-1/8-1) and finally, indigo eri silk (8-1) and hemstitching on 2 picks plainweave.

I won’t remove this piece from the loom until the final scarf has been woven.
