I hemstitched on 2 picks plain weave in indigo eri silk and wove a border of 10 picks plain weave indigo eri silk.
I had to pause the weaving to prepare several bobbins of both eri silk and hand reeled mulberry silk yarn for use as weft.
When I recommenced weaving, I wove
Extended point of Eri silk, Orange (1-8)/Yellow (1-8-1)/Orange (8-1)
TAW Eri silk, Natural
Extended point of Eri silk, Orange (1-8)/Yellow (1-8-1)/Orange (8-1)
Plainweave with Eri silk, Indigo, 10 picks
Hemstitch on 2 picks of indigo eri silk.
I then wove a 2-stick header as described by Peggy Osterkamp on p74 of her book “Warping your loom and tying on new warps”. This enabled me to cut the sample from the loom and wet finish it while maintaining the spread and tension of the warp.
Pre-finish the sample measured 17.5 x 30cm
Post-finish the sample measured 16 x 28.5cm
I am very pleased with the way this pattern has woven up and so will continue to use it for the remainder of this warp.
