I decided to weave this piece using Tie-up #1 and TAW treadling. The weft colour sequence is White/Fog/Grey/Fog/White
I began by weaving 2 picks of opposites (treadles 1 & 8) and hemstitching in White. I then wove:
X treadles with White yarn until the fog warp box was squared
Y treadles with Fog yarn until the black warp box was squared
XY treadles with Grey yarn until the white warp box was squared
X treadles with Fog yarn until the black warp box was squared
Y treadles with White yarn until the fog warp box was squared
I ended by weaving 2 picks of opposites and hemstitching in White.
Again, I was very careful with the beat for this piece. I checked for square light holes while beating, checked the ppi using a square piece of paper folded into a triangle to a 45° angle and also counted ppi. I found that the beating is about perfect – I have 15-16ppi.
