Warp 18 – 2nd cover finished

Using 16/2 creme, I wove 2 picks alternating basketweave and hemstitched before weaving 24 picks of straight draw (1234), also in 16/2 creme. This will form a hem for the finished piece.
Next came the border – 8 picks pf 8/4 red in straight draw (1234).
Then the pattern – in 8/4 medium blue woven TAW undulating. I decided to weave 10 repetitions to compare the length to that of the green cover. The green cover measured 51.5cm in length and about 47cm width, so I decided to try for a square cover.
After weaving 10 repetitions, I wove the 8 picks of red straight draw border (4321 to keep the pattern the same as the blue section), 24 picks of 16/2 creme in straight draw (again 4321), and finally, 2 picks alternating basketweave for the hemstitching.

The completed 8/4 cotton portion of the fabric measures 47cm in length and width with the tension off.

I reversed the border treadling at the end (compared with that of the green piece) in order to make the border a continuation of the pattern in the blue section. I prefer that to the end in the green section – here the red sections at each end are in the same direction; on the blue piece they are opposites.
