Warp 36 – 3rd piece (scarf) finished & warp completed.

This morning, I completed the weaving of the warp end.

I hemstitched in blue and began weaving using the treadling sequence described in the post detailing the preparation of this warp (TAW threading including colours). Over the last four days, I have woven five pattern repeats to get ~125cm fabric. The weaving progressed smoothly and was trouble free, although I did have to splice in warp threads to deal with 2 knots in the warp. I ended by hemstitching in blue.

Once hemstitching was finished, I removed all of the fabric from the loom and cut the 2nd & 3rd pieces apart. Both were washed by hand in cold water, pressed on silk setting with a thin cotton tea towel between the iron and the fabric (in case of dye bleeding and the iron moving dye about). They were then laid outside where there was a gentle breeze to dry flat. Once dry, loose ends were trimmed and labels sewn on. I had intended to measure the pieces before washing, but I forgot; so I only have the post-wash measurement.

The finished fabric is beautiful! Soft, drapey, bright, vibrant and shiny! The magenta dye has only bled in a couple of small areas.
