Warp 16 – Ready to weave!

I threaded the heddles using the threading draft from S4E8, “Shadow weave meets twill”, of the Jane Stafford online weaving guild. In the threading draft, I threaded colours as 1, 2, 3, 4 and black as X. Next I sleyed the reed, threading 2 ends per dent in the 8dpi reed. While sleying, I checked the heddle threading and found a single error in the green glow section. I had threaded a pair of ends 3, 3 instead of 2, 3. To correct this, I made a heddle on shaft 2 from a piece of string and rethreaded the end correctly. I then spread the heddles across the shafts and removed the lease sticks. Next, the warp ends were tied to the front apron rod. I raised the shafts in sequence to check for a clean shed and wove the header rows with thick orange yarn. Finally, I threw 2 picks of alternating basketweave (1,2 & 3,4) in black and hemstitched.
