As for the earlier two wall hangings from this warp, I found a driftwood stick of an appropriate size and shape and, using thin fishing line, attached it to the top of the piece of fabric. Then, using the same fishing line, I sewed 1 crab, 4 shells and 2 ceramic seagulls onto the fabric. To do this, I threaded the fishing line through the fabric, around the object, back through the fabric and tied a knot – each shell is held with one piece of fishing line, the seagulls with two.


UPDATE:
An artist friend looked at the hanging and suggested removing the 3 shells in the centre. She had a couple of reasons for this; firstly, they looked strange floating in the “sea” and secondly, they cluttered the piece. So I removed them (and took the chance to press the fabric). It really does show off the fabric structure to have less attachments.
