My idea for two of these pieces of fabric was to create wall-hangings with them. A friend had given me four dried seahorses taken from fishing nets years ago and another friend gave me several small fish and seagulls that she had made from clay. The woven fabric was to be the sea for these objects.
I decided to make two wall-hangings, each with two seahorses, two seagulls & three fish. I found some driftwood sticks of an appropriate size and shape and, using thin fishing line, attached one to the top of each of the two pieces of fabric. Then, using the same fishing line, I sewed each item onto the fabric. To do this, I threaded the fishing line through the fabric, around the object, back through the fabric and tied a knot – each object is held with two pieces of fishing line.
