After hemstitching on 2 picks of plainweave, I wove 5 pattern repetitions using 20/2 black silk as the weft. Each pattern repetition is about 44cm long – this is longer than the repeats for the 16/2 cotton weft as the 20/2 silk weft yarn is slightly thicker than the cotton; I have about 216cm of fabric on the loom. I wove as far as was possible on the warp in order to finish the 5th pattern repetition; this meant switching the weft yarn to a stick shuttle as the shed was very small at the end. I ended with hemstitching on 2 picks of plainweave.
