As I hadn’t cut the previous piece from the loom, I was able to leave a small gap for fringes and hemstitch on two picks of plainweave for the beginning of this piece.
This scarf was woven as follows:
Eri silk – indigo dyed – 1-8
Eri silk – orange/yellow/orange (1-8/1-8-1/8-1)
Tussah silk (handspun) – TAW
Tussah silk (handspun) – TAW
Eri silk – orange/yellow/orange (1-8/1-8-1/8-1)
Eri silk – natural – TAW – 6 bands separated by coloured eri silk bands (orange/yellow/orange woven 1-8/1-8-1/8-1). The 7th and 8th bands of natural eri silk TAW were woven without the separating coloured band. I wove a white bead into the centre of each diamond – so 11 beads in total. It was quite difficult to keep these in place, they kept moving to the side of the fabric that I was working on.
Weaving of this piece was finished with orange/yellow/orange (1-8/1-8-1/8-1) and finally, indigo eri silk (8-1) and hemstitching on 2 picks plainweave.
