Once I finished hemstitching the final piece, I cut the fabric from the loom and separated all of the pieces.
They were all handwashed using “Beyond fibre wash” in warm water. This is especially important with the tussah silk pieces as the sericin remaining in the fibres is removed and the fabric becomes a lot softer. The pieces were then spun dry in the washing machine on medium speed and pressed with an iron set to “silk”. After drying all loose ends were trimmed and labels sewn on by hand.
