I left a gap for fringes, wove 2 picks of tussah silk and hemstitched them. The weft for this piece (4th on this warp) is mostly natural coloured, handspun, single-ply tussah silk.
I wove a single repetition (384 picks) of tussah silk and decided to weave a half repetition (192 picks) of 16/2 black mercerised cotton. I then continued to weave with the tussah silk until I had completed about 175cm – that was 7 pattern repetitions in total. I then wove 2 more picks and hemstitched with the tussah silk.
