Yesterday I wound the warp threads onto the warping mill:
9 black
80 alternating black and honeysuckle
4 black
60 alternating black and celosia orange
4 black
60 alternating black and green glow
4 black
84 alternating black and scuba blue
9 black
The colours look great together!
Today, I tied the cross and removed the warp from the mill. Then it was time to spread the warp in the raddle – 8 ends in a gap, keeping pairs of ends together.
Next I unchained some of the warp and gave the warp a good shake. I placed “Textiles of the Islamic World” by John Gillow on the warp end, moved to the back of the loom and wound the warp onto the warp roller. When it was fully wound, I was amazed to see that the front ends of the warp were remarkably even. I cut the front ends, removed the threads from the raddle and dropped them down between the lease sticks and heddles before taking the raddle from the loom. I also changed to the 8dpi reed.
