I have been reading an excellent book – “Silk weavers of hill tribe Laos: Textiles, traditions and well-being” by J. Hirchstein & M. Beck, published by Thrums Books. This book introcduces you to the creators of the gorgeous textiles and explains how the silk reeling, dying and weaving are carried out.
The woven textiles described are absolutely amazing, so I visited the authors’ website (https://hilltribeart.com) and browsed through the textiles listed. A friend and I decided to each purchase a shawl. I was so excited when they arrived in the mail – they are even more beautiful than in the pictures.
