Yesterday I finally got around to removing the warp from the mill. I have been a little sidetracked over the last few days making sample cards of all the beautiful yarns I’ve been gathering (see next blog entry).
Again, I followed the method of Jane Stafford to make the warp chain. First, I tied the cross in 4 places.
Then, I tilted the last peg of the warping mill up so that I was able to slide the end off. Next I proceeded to make the warping chain, keeping the threads under tension and making small, tight loops. Once finished, I hung the chain from the upright peg on the back of a chair so that the chain wouldn’t come undone before I am ready to start dressing the loom.
