Ikat weaving is an amazing process where designs are woven into fabric using pre-dyed threads.
Once the weaver has come up with a design, they measure the weft threads and tie them into tight bundles. The threads are then dyed and un-tied.
The next step is to weave the threads into the design. If the design is a complicated one, this can involve two people lining up the pattern dyed into each thread to ensure that the design comes out correctly.
