Learning how – creating a sampler

My first item – a sampler – was created under the guidance of a couple of experienced weavers from the Guild of Spinners and Weavers in Christchurch.  Over 5 evenings in October/November 2017 we were shown how to plan a project, set up the loom and weave in various ways – hence the name “sampler” – a sampling of a few techniques.

I used cotton thread and carded wool and the weaving draft on page 118 of “A handweaver’s pattern book” by Marguerite Porter Davidson.

The finished sampler measures 19cm x 143cm.
